Answer: The solution to this is usually to add a formula field to check if the now is after the date field in question. It's best practice to set the times zones for date fields. Automation is looking for, if there is a checkmark in this field, then run the automation. If there is no check mark in the field do not run it, becasue it hasn't happened yet.
