Alli Alosa: I know, people are excited about the little things that they've been fixing, and I'm excited to see what come next.
Danny Fellars: Yep.
Danny Fellars: Yep.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: Well, with that, let's jump in.
Danny Fellars: So you've likely, have seen some of the announcements.
Danny Fellars: I know we've talked about it in our BuiltOnAir community.
Danny Fellars: But let's let's start from the beginning, so...
Danny Fellars: Of what we've missed.
Danny Fellars: So if you are a Gemini, Google AI user, they now have a a native connection with Airtable.
Danny Fellars: So that's, that's nice for the the Gemini users to be able to plug in and and use it directly.
Danny Fellars: I I use it, with Claude, the Airtable connector MCP native connection with Claude, and, it allows for a lot of cool functionality.
Danny Fellars: So that's good for Gemini users.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: So now we're gonna jump to...
Danny Fellars: They did, 15 product updates in fifteen days.
Danny Fellars: I wanna say...
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: So I guess they just shipped over over fifteen days without...
Danny Fellars: What's interesting is nobody, like, caught any of these changes, as they were rolling out.
Danny Fellars: I didn't see anybody mention these.
Danny Fellars: But let's go through them.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: So first one, unique count on linked record fields.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: That one's big, I think.
Danny Fellars: Why so?
Alli Alosa: I mean, I've always felt annoyed that you couldn't do that.
Alli Alosa: Mhmm.
Alli Alosa: And, like, if you have multiple links with the same record across that table, you're gonna get...
Alli Alosa: Like, you could never...
Alli Alosa: You'd have to have a count field, I guess, and you could sum it.
Alli Alosa: But then that still isn't gonna give you the number of unique records.
Alli Alosa: Mhmm.
Alli Alosa: So having this summary is really nice.
Alli Alosa: And, also, if I'm not mistaken, it applies to interface...
Alli Alosa: Interfaces as well.
Alli Alosa: So if you're using a linked record field as your, in a chart...
Alli Alosa: I did this yesterday, actually, and I noticed, like, if...
Alli Alosa: It's hard to explain, but I have a many to many relationship that I'm modeling in the chart, essentially, and I wanted to get the count of unique records.
Alli Alosa: And I couldn't do it with record IDs, and it was just really confusing.
Alli Alosa: But this was not available before.
Alli Alosa: I couldn't use this option, and now I can.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: That's good.
Danny Fellars: But now for me, I look at this.
Danny Fellars: I'm like, you know, you could do a roll up and get the unique account.
Danny Fellars: And that's probably how I've done it in the past, and then it's its own dedicated field.
Danny Fellars: But...
Danny Fellars: So this is a nice to have, but you could have worked around it.
Danny Fellars: Right?
Alli Alosa: It depends on your structure.
Alli Alosa: Like, there's...
Alli Alosa: For me, what I kept running into yesterday with the chart specifically.
Alli Alosa: Like, this...
Alli Alosa: Like, that's where I get really excited is having that unique option to be able to summarize a bar chart with a linked record field, if that makes sense.
Alli Alosa: Because if you...
Alli Alosa: If you're...
Alli Alosa: There's, like, limitations around the list view and how you have it displayed within a dashboard.
Alli Alosa: So it's like depending on what's your source table is, you might be forced to use a different kind of structure.
Alli Alosa: Doesn't...
Alli Alosa: I could go on and on, but I found this to be useful.
Danny Fellars: Oh, but...
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: And, actually, now I think about this, this is unique across all of the records.
Alli Alosa: Right.
Danny Fellars: Whereas a field would just be for the one record.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: So this is showing you unique linked within that that...
Danny Fellars: In that...
Danny Fellars: And so if you filtered it, you know, then it would just be to that filter.
Danny Fellars: So, yeah, that does add value.
Alli Alosa: That is cool.
Danny Fellars: Cool.
Danny Fellars: Cool.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: Here's another kinda nice to have.
Danny Fellars: If you work in the in the admin panel, be able to drag, make your columns bigger.
Danny Fellars: Sometimes it's annoying.
Danny Fellars: You can't see what's going on.
Danny Fellars: So that's kinda nice.
Danny Fellars: Nice feature.
Danny Fellars: I didn't realize this.
Danny Fellars: You couldn't search by ID before.
Danny Fellars: That's kinda surprising.
Alli Alosa: That's silly.
Danny Fellars: So...
Danny Fellars: Oh, I guess, like, yeah, if you're creating a PAT, personal access token, you could paste in the ID.
Danny Fellars: So I I guess I didn't realize that wasn't there before.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Search edit improvements.
Danny Fellars: Flip between lookup and rollout...
Danny Fellars: Roll up without losing your settings.
Danny Fellars: So let's show what that looks like.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: So I I prepped this beforehand.
Danny Fellars: So I've gotta look up here.
Danny Fellars: Before, if you ever switch this to a roll up, you would lose all of this configuration, and it was kind of annoying.
Danny Fellars: You have to go back.
Danny Fellars: But now it keeps that configuration.
Alli Alosa: If you have those other toggles on, like a sort or the filtering on, does it keep those?
Danny Fellars: Let's try it.
Danny Fellars: Let's cancel.
Danny Fellars: Let's, do this.
Danny Fellars: Now some of these, like, limit doesn't exist.
Danny Fellars: Let's change it.
Alli Alosa: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: The ones that are applicable.
Danny Fellars: So I guess only the first one is in both.
Alli Alosa: And the other one, I don't know if you picked a field for the sort maybe because it didn't
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: But, yeah, that's that's awesome.
Alli Alosa: I do this all the time, so that saves a lot of time.
Danny Fellars: You know where it comes in handy?
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: There.
Danny Fellars: It did keep it.
Danny Fellars: It comes in handy because you can't add roll up fields.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: So what you could do is you do a lookup, and then and then it makes it easy to then switch it to, a
Alli Alosa: A roll up.
Danny Fellars: A roll up.
Danny Fellars: Because as it was always annoying, I'm always like, I wanna add a roll up off of here, but it doesn't do that.
Danny Fellars: But now let's do a lookup and then Switched it.
Danny Fellars: I don't know if that's any faster, but kinda nice.
Alli Alosa: I usually...
Alli Alosa: I I duplicate my fields a lot.
Alli Alosa: Like, I...
Alli Alosa: Because there's a keyboard shortcut.
Alli Alosa: I've talked about this a lot in the, like, Slack channel.
Alli Alosa: But on a Mac, if you hold option...
Alli Alosa: If you click on a column, hold option and drag it.
Alli Alosa: Like, hold option before you click.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: Weird.
Alli Alosa: If you hold...
Alli Alosa: It should, duplicate the field.
Alli Alosa: Like, when you click, there should be...
Alli Alosa: Usually, there's a little green plus that shows up.
Alli Alosa: On a PC, it's alt.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: And so when you option click drag...
Danny Fellars: There you go.
Danny Fellars: No.
Danny Fellars: That's...
Danny Fellars: Oh, there it...
Alli Alosa: It worked.
Danny Fellars: It worked.
Alli Alosa: K.
Alli Alosa: So I do that all the time.
Alli Alosa: Like, if I have, if I'm creating new fields, especially if it's, like, a bunch of roll ups in a row or, like, a bunch of the same field type in a row, I'll just, like, option drag, option click drag, option click drag, and then rename them all.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: That makes sense.
Danny Fellars: That's a good one.
Danny Fellars: Alright.
Danny Fellars: So that's nice.
Danny Fellars: Let's go back.
Danny Fellars: Match fields by name when changing the connection for a lookup.
Alli Alosa: I noticed it.
Danny Fellars: And now it matches lookup field to the new.
Danny Fellars: So that's if you change, which table.
Alli Alosa: Mhmm.
Danny Fellars: Let's do that.
Danny Fellars: So if we were to change this to a different table...
Alli Alosa: It would be for one of your lookups or rollups.
Danny Fellars: Oh, for the lookup or rollup.
Danny Fellars: Gotcha.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: If you had team...
Alli Alosa: If if team also had a field called task
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: It would it would keep that field intact on the drop down.
Danny Fellars: Let's do that.
Alli Alosa: Which, again, very useful.
Alli Alosa: Small thing, but I've found that helpful.
Alli Alosa: Just a a good little, as Kevan pointed out, just one less thing to think about.
Danny Fellars: Yep.
Danny Fellars: There it is.
Danny Fellars: That's cool.
Danny Fellars: That is nice.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: I think most of the time that's gonna be useful.
Alli Alosa: Mhmm.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Here's a good one.
Danny Fellars: Single select fill...
Danny Fellars: Filters hold your choice when it switched from is to is any of.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: So if you have a filter and you say team
Alli Alosa: It'll be single select.
Danny Fellars: Oh, yeah.
Danny Fellars: Single select.
Alli Alosa: Status.
Danny Fellars: Yes.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: So if you said is any of, this would go away, and you had to go back and click it.
Alli Alosa: That's nice.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: That is very nice.
Danny Fellars: Now if you go back to is, it clears.
Danny Fellars: Let's see.
Danny Fellars: If you had just
Alli Alosa: one Right.
Alli Alosa: Right.
Alli Alosa: Okay.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Let's see if you had just one.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: There it holds.
Danny Fellars: But if you have two, it doesn't pick the first.
Danny Fellars: That's interesting.
Alli Alosa: Quite nice.
Danny Fellars: It's probably good.
Danny Fellars: Don't wanna assume which one you'd want there.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Duplicated dashboard chart stays selected.
Danny Fellars: So that's kind of a nice...
Danny Fellars: I don't know.
Alli Alosa: That...
Alli Alosa: I found it really frustrating.
Alli Alosa: I've noticed the dupe...
Alli Alosa: Duplicating elements on...
Alli Alosa: I don't know about dashboards off the top of my head, but definitely record detail pages.
Alli Alosa: If you duplicate something, it puts it above the other one, which is really weird.
Alli Alosa: And if you duplicate a list view with a button, the copy doesn't have the button.
Danny Fellars: Interesting.
Alli Alosa: Very weird.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: But it is good that, yeah, they're getting in there and making changes.
Danny Fellars: So we'll see if they add more there.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: Visibility improvements.
Danny Fellars: Add a field to an empty group in the interface record builder.
Danny Fellars: Interface record builder.
Danny Fellars: If you selected an empty group in the record detail builder, there was no obvious way to add anything to it.
Danny Fellars: There's now a clear plus to drop a field straight in.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: I've found that to be a frustrating thing.
Alli Alosa: It's like...
Alli Alosa: It it it felt like just a weird user experience kind of thing.
Alli Alosa: If you, like, created a new group in a record detail page
Danny Fellars: Oh, yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: And then left it and then came back, it was like, wait.
Alli Alosa: You have to, like, hunt to find the little blue
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Gotcha.
Danny Fellars: I know what that is now.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: That's...
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Let's see.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Because you had to, like, in here.
Danny Fellars: If I were to add a new group.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: So now this...
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: Is visible.
Danny Fellars: Wasn't there.
Danny Fellars: You had to, like, select this to get it to show up, I think.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: It was really weird.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: Awesome.
Danny Fellars: That's good.
Danny Fellars: That's a nice addition.
Danny Fellars: Count numbers and dashboards now come with separator.
Alli Alosa: Controversial.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Now it reads with the comma or period depending on your location.
Danny Fellars: Can you modify it?
Danny Fellars: Can you change it?
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: That's...
Danny Fellars: Let's see.
Danny Fellars: So let's add a number.
Danny Fellars: I don't have a number over a thousand.
Danny Fellars: But, yeah, there's no there's no modification.
Danny Fellars: That's interesting.
Danny Fellars: It just assumes
Alli Alosa: Quite.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Interesting.
Danny Fellars: I mean,
Alli Alosa: I'd always noticed, like, if it were a summary field, if you, like, used the summary and summed...
Alli Alosa: Like, pointed it at a number field that had those formatting...
Alli Alosa: Whatever you'd set.
Danny Fellars: That is true.
Alli Alosa: Respected those.
Danny Fellars: Oh, did it?
Alli Alosa: I think so
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Alli Alosa: If I recall correctly.
Alli Alosa: But, but if it's not a number that you're summarizing, like a number field that you've set the format of specifically, then it's just gonna default to whatever they've said it should, I guess.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: That's that's good.
Danny Fellars: There might be times when you don't want a comma, so that's where it's interesting.
Danny Fellars: Because what it...
Danny Fellars: Well, I guess account number...
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: I guess account number.
Danny Fellars: Probably always want it formatted.
Alli Alosa: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Okay.
Danny Fellars: Long base title stops overlapping the open interface button.
Danny Fellars: It's kinda nice.
Danny Fellars: Now we're
Alli Alosa: Is that being home page?
Danny Fellars: Open interface from the home.
Danny Fellars: This...
Danny Fellars: Open interface.
Danny Fellars: So I guess it covered over if it was long.
Danny Fellars: Gotcha.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: That's a nice one.
Danny Fellars: Stopped interface settings, tooltips, overlapping the row action below.
Alli Alosa: Nice.
Danny Fellars: Cleanup.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: Experience improvement.
Danny Fellars: Rename a field and interface keeps up instantly.
Danny Fellars: So I'm assuming that's if you rename from the settings menu used used to leave interface elements lagging, showing previous data.
Danny Fellars: They now rerender immediately.
Danny Fellars: So that's from the settings menu within the interface, I'm assuming.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: Like, if you click on the field and then...
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: And then exit.
Danny Fellars: Re edit.
Danny Fellars: So...
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: So this used to not, like, change there or something.
Danny Fellars: Mhmm.
Danny Fellars: Yep.
Danny Fellars: So it's fixed.
Danny Fellars: Linked record editor is now steady when empty.
Danny Fellars: What does that mean?
Danny Fellars: Opening the linked record cell editor on a field with no visible fields caused the panel to jump in height mid load.
Danny Fellars: So it did kind of a wiggle or something.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: I'm sure I've seen that before.
Danny Fellars: Enter on a grid.
Danny Fellars: Linked record cell no longer shifts the cell upwards.
Danny Fellars: Pressing enter inside a linked record cell in grid view used to shift your selection up a row unexpectedly.
Danny Fellars: K.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: And
Danny Fellars: then resizing a grid header no longer drags the whole element with it.
Danny Fellars: Resizing a column's header's edge in interface editor mode could instead drag the entire grid element.
Danny Fellars: Resizing now does only what you intended.
Danny Fellars: What does that mean?
Danny Fellars: Let's see.
Danny Fellars: So that'd be inside of here.
Alli Alosa: Mhmm.
Danny Fellars: Did this do something funky before?
Alli Alosa: I think it was really easy to grab the whole element instead of the the bar to resize.
Alli Alosa: Like, to grab the list.
Danny Fellars: That does seem cleaner.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: They must have added this new because that's what they use in the admin panel.
Danny Fellars: I think this is a new approach to dragging.
Danny Fellars: I wonder if they implemented a new.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: I think maybe.
Alli Alosa: It feels a little different.
Alli Alosa: Yep.
Alli Alosa: They also did a, I feel like they've...
Alli Alosa: They changed the font in scripting and the formula builder.
Alli Alosa: I like it.
Alli Alosa: I don't mind it at all.
Alli Alosa: I...
Alli Alosa: It's different.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: The one thing along that same list that we just went over that they did not do that I really, really need them to do is, it used to be if you if you have a table with several records in it and you expand a field, you could arrow down to go to the next record, and you can't do that anymore.
Alli Alosa: And I really...
Alli Alosa: I want them to fix that.
Alli Alosa: It's driving me crazy.
Danny Fellars: If, let's see here.
Danny Fellars: So say that again.
Alli Alosa: So go to, like, the episode to dos, or anywhere, and and then go to, like, the notes column and click on one of the cells in the notes column.
Alli Alosa: And then click the the blue arrows there to expand it, and now arrow down.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Nothing.
Alli Alosa: It used to it used to go to the next one, the next record, which
Danny Fellars: is the next testing.
Alli Alosa: So it would...
Alli Alosa: It was really helpful, and you could arrow down or over right or left and go to the next cell.
Alli Alosa: And it's really helpful if I have two cells and I'm trying to compare them, and I wanna expand, like, the big rich text field to be like, are they the same or different?
Alli Alosa: I wanna arrow between, and I and I can't.
Danny Fellars: Interesting.
Danny Fellars: I wonder if there is complaints that they didn't like that because they kind of...
Danny Fellars: They wanted to stay in here.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: I don't know.
Alli Alosa: I wonder if I was
Danny Fellars: trying to...
Alli Alosa: If you click into it, it does stay in there.
Alli Alosa: The arrow down doesn't do it anymore.
Danny Fellars: Right.
Alli Alosa: But, like, especially in, like, linked record fields, like, you could expand a linked record field, arrow down.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: You think, yeah, if you're not focused in here, it should...
Danny Fellars: Yeah.
Danny Fellars: Mhmm.
Danny Fellars: See that.
Danny Fellars: K.
Danny Fellars: If you're listening, bending spoons.
Danny Fellars: One more.
Danny Fellars: Do another fifteen and fifteen.
Alli Alosa: Yeah.
Alli Alosa: Grateful for what you put out so far, though.
Danny Fellars: Yep.
Danny Fellars: Yep.
Danny Fellars: It's cool, though.
Danny Fellars: It's just, like, these are nitty gritty things that I'm sure they've been having on their list, for a while.
Danny Fellars: But it didn't end there.
Danny Fellars: They did, just last week, I believe, announced a new set of updates.
